Hello

Return

Hello, I am Dominic Lüönd, a game developer and interaction designer. StudioZyyt is my pseudonym from which I hope an artisan game studio might emerge.

I have been a gaming enthusiast for as long as I can and can't remember. I have very fond memories of creating and modifying custom RPG-maps for WarCraft III in elementary school. I could theorize and tinker with parameters of abilities or attributes of items with pen and paper for hours (of course I'd never do that during school though *cough*). Nowadays I enjoy spending my time playing games or developing them. I have a soft spot in my heart for pen and paper RPGs, most recently Blades in the Dark.

Ludus

Return

Ludus (working title) is a captivating rogue-lite game that immerses players in the role of a barbarian who has been captured by the roman empire and is forced to entertain the nobility through gladiatorial games.

The game is set in an environment that draws inspiration from the ruins and reconstructions of roman-era Switzerland. It features awe-inspiring landscapes modelled after historical sites such as Augusta Raurica (Kaiseraugst), Vindonissa (Windisch), and Aventicum (Avenches).

Ludus is a wild, fantastical blend of mythology, historical influences, and Swiss folklore. Just as Switzerland is the melting point of different cultural influences, so is the world of Ludus.

It will create a combination of traditional architecture, action packed gameplay and an unexpected artistic style. result is a truly unique and immersive gaming experience that is sure to captivate players.

At its core, Ludus is a thrilling fight for survival, set against the backdrop of a spectacle designed to entertain the populace. As players conquer a range of historic arenas and battlegrounds, they must contend with the treacherous warden who oversees the fights and delights in mocking the barbarians' attempts to win their freedom.

But can freedom truly be achieved, or are the barbarians forever trapped in a never-ending and rigged spectacle that exists solely to entertain their captors?

Bellum Magicum

Return

Bellum Magicum is a top-down RPG in pixel-art style. Dive into a story driven fantasy world located underground in the realm of Altrum.

Players have the ability to change their character class at any point during the game. This mechanic is key to overcoming different obstacles throughout the game.

This project started out as a personal place for experimentation and later became my Bachelors project. I use theoretical knowledge from my university studies to create tricky systems and put them together, trying to create interesting game experiences.

Side Projects

Return

Here is a collection of smaller projects and game jams I have worked on in the past.

Haunted Hights. You take on the role of a little girl tasked with delivering boxes to the top of a haunted tower. The catch is that the heavier the box, the less high she can jump, forcing the player to strategize their route to the top carefully. Luckily, the player can shoot the boxes and use some of them as platforms to get higher.

Industrialist's Dilemma. You are an aspiring industrialist and want to create the perfect urban factory city with maximum production, the best working conditions and minimal pollution. Fill the bars at the top to win the game!

Portal Gladiator. Portal Gladiator is an isometric top-down hack and slash in pixel-art style. Fight your way through hordes of enemies to regain your freedom. This game was a 3-week project for a university course. Being my first introduction to web-development this small game is made entirely with vanilla JS.
